Barbara Helm has been teaching Yang Style Tai Chi Chuan
form for over 30 years.
She started her studies in 1985 at the "Grandmaster
William C.C. Chen's Tai Chi Chuan Body Mechanics" with
Master Laura Stone in Bloomington, Indiana. She
began teaching Tai Chi Chuan at The Awareness Center and
Deaconess Hospital's Resource Center for Healthy Living
in Evansville, Indiana while under the supervision of
Master Stone. In 1986 she started studying with
Grandmaster William C.C. Chen. She was certified in
Tai Chi Chuan Short Form in 1994 by Grandmaster William C.C. Chen's
School of Body Mechanics in New York City and is listed
as a Worldwide Certified Instructor of Tai Chi Chuan

In 1995 Barbara moved to Western North Carolina and
taught in Hot Springs, Weaverville, Asheville and
AB-Tech. In 2000 she moved to Franklin, North Carolina
where she now leads workshops, groups and private
lessons in Tai Chi Chuan, Sword Form, Mindfulness
Meditation, and Feldenkrais at her studio Somatic
Motion. She is also well-known in Highlands, North
Carolina for teaching at the world renowned 4-star
resort -
Old Edwards Inn and Spa and at the
Highlands-Cashiers Mission Memorial Hospital's Health
Tracks (Cardiac Rehabilitation Program) - recognized
as one of the nation's Top 15 Health Systems (2012-2014)
three years in a row.
Barbara worked with
Richard Hotchkiss as a certified instructor of
ETTA (Exercise Thru The Ages)
in Franklin, North
Carolina. In 2016 she became the owner after
seeing the incredible results that the RenX protocol
Resistance Training program provides. She firmly believes that between the
mind and total body transformation of her
programs, a person can feel years younger and stronger
from the inside out (cellular
rejuvenation).
Barbara continues her studies with her teachers
Grandmaster William C.C. Chen and Master Laura Stone.
After much persuasion by her students, Barbara was
endorsed as a "Master" on her class instructional video
published in 2014.
